2026 Annual Fund

Make a tax-deductible donation and help today’s future aviators take flight!

Students in the Aviation Museum of N.H.’s ‘Flights of Discovery’ summer campo program check out the cockpit of a FedEx 767-300 cargo jet at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

Where are tomorrow’s aviators? They’re involved today in youth programs and activities run by the Aviation Museum of N.H.—our student plane-building program, our ‘Flights of Discovery’ summer camp, our Yellowbird Society of Young Aviators, and more.

You can help! As a non-profit, the Aviation Museum of N.H. depends on donations to carry out its mission of preserving the region’s aviation history and also using it to inspire young people to be tomorrow’s aviation innovators and aerospace pioneers.

A donation to our Annual Fund will enable us to continue to reach thousands of young people in 2026. We specifically are looking to replenish our scholarship fund, which provides financial aid to summer camp attendees whose families cannot afford the full cost of tuition.

We also need to raise $40,000 to support the ongoing costs of running our high school student plane-building programs in Lebanon, Manchester, and Farmington. Your contribution to the museum’s Annual Fund will help ensure that young people will continue to have the unparalleled hands-on opportunity of building an airplane!

As part of your 2026 charitable giving plans, consider a donation to the Aviation Museum. Your contribution will enable us to change kids lives. Your gift will help make it possible for any young person to see aviation and aerospace in his or her future!

Ways to maximize your giving and minimize your taxes

Making a gift to a nonprofit such as the Aviation Museum of N.H. is a way to build a legacy and to make a lasting impact on the next generation of future aviators. Please consult with an attorney, tax professional, or financial planner to discuss which options work best for you and your loved ones’ long-term plans.

Gifts from your IRA

Required minimum distributions (RMDs) are the minimum amounts you must withdraw from your retirement accounts each year. You generally must start taking withdrawals from your traditional IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, and retirement plan accounts when you reach age 73, but you can begin taking qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) at age 70½. Although not eligible for a charitable deduction, a QCD is not included in the IRA owner’s adjusted gross income (AGI) under IRS rules. In some cases, the tax benefits of a direct QCD from an IRA to a nonprofit could outweigh the charitable deduction you would have received from donating cash or other assets to an eligible charity.

You may write a check on your IRA account, but please note that your check must clear with your IRA fund administrator before December 31 or your gift may not satisfy any of your required minimum distribution and you may be subject to a penalty.

What mailing address do I use for my QCD donation?

Your Qualified Charitable Distribution check must be sent directly from your IRA custodian to the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire. Please provide this mailing address to your IRA custodian:

  • Aviation Museum of New Hampshire
  • Legal name: New Hampshire Aviation Historical Society
  • Address: 27 Navigator Rd., Londonderry, NH 03053
  • Federal Tax ID number: 02-0504337

Please ask your financial institution to include your name and address in the reference field on the check to ensure prompt acknowledgement of your gift. If you would like to make a contribution by ACH instead, please contact Leah Dearborn at ldearborn@nhahs.org for instructions.

Many people also give from their retirement accounts by naming a non-profit as a beneficiary on the account. Since post-death distributions from retirement accounts are generally taxable, naming a non-profit as a beneficiary has several tax advantages: it has the potential to lower the

overall taxable value of an estate and, unlike an individual beneficiary, a non-profit will not be taxed on the funds it receives.

Other donation options to consider as you plan your giving for the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026:

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

Make a contribution to a DAF, enjoy an immediate tax deduction, then recommend grants to charitable organizations like the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire that are important to your giving priorities.

Appreciated Stock

Potentially bypass capital gains taxes and claim a deduction for the stock’s full value if you itemize.

Bequests

Support the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire in your will or trust. There are a number of ways to make a bequest to the Aviation Museum. Designate a specific dollar amount or property, set aside a percentage of your total estate or trust, or give a percentage of your estate to the Aviation Museum after other provisions are made for your loved ones.
