Welcome MST student plane-build mentors-to-be!

Prospective volunteer mentors inspect a Van’s RV-12iS aircraft completed by Manchester School of Technology students in 2022.

Mentors-to-be! The Aviation Museum’s high school student plane-building program depends on adult volunteers who donate their time to mentor young people through the long process of assembling a flyable aircraft.

The plane-building program at the Manchester School of Technology recently held an open house for prospective new mentors which attracted a wide range of candidates with diverse backgrounds, all ready to give back through mentoring.

The open house, held at the Aviation Museum, included an orientation by MST instructor Jeff Sullivan, the school faculty member who teaches the program, and a visit to the East Ramp at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to get a close-up look a Van’s RV-12iS aircraft completed by MST students in 2022.

Many thanks to all who attended, including several current mentors who answered questions about the program, as well as museum board member and pilot Bob Di Meo, who flew the RV-12iS in for the event. With the 2026-27 school year about to start, we look forward to welcoming these new mentors into the workshop!
