Breakfast served in ‘Take Flight’ workshop to fuel extended plane-build session

‘Take Flight’ instructor Tom Moore prepares bacon in the workshop at Lebanon (N.H.) High School.

It wasn’t quite yet an inflight meal, but a full breakfast was cooked and served this week (Jan. 19-23, 2026) in the ‘Take Flight’ plane-building workshop at Lebanon (N.H.) High School.

The meal, prepared by ‘Take Flight’ instructor Tom Moore, helped students and mentors power through an extended-length build session, a result of this week’s mid-term exam schedules. Moore leads the plane-building program with fellow LHS teacher Bo Harwood.

‘Take Flight’ is a partnership between the school, the Aviation Museum, and non-profit Tango Flight, which facilitates student plane-building programs around the country. When completed by Lebanon students, the two-seat RV-12iS recreational aircraft will be sold, with the proceeds used to buy the kits needed to build the next airplane.

Although the cost of the plane hardware is covered, the Aviation Museum budgets about $40,000 each year in program expenses and running costs for plane-building programs now operating in Lebanon, Farmington and Manchester, N.H.

As a non-profit, we commit to raising those funds to give local students the unparalleled hands-on experience of building an actual airplane. Your support is crucial.
