Maintenance update: Aviation Museum’s Embraer cockpit receives upgrades!

Volunteer Chris Lippincott gets “under the hood” (or actually behind the dashboard) in the Aviation Museum of N.H.’s Embraer 110 cockpit.

The popular Embraer 110 cockpit at the Aviation Museum is currently undergoing a round of improvements, with volunteer Chris Lippincott installing new instruments, controls, and radio navigation aids that now trigger realistic sounds!

So if you press ‘Gear Up,’ you hear what that really sounds like in the cockpit! (For extra authenticity, a volunteer can stand by and kick the exhibit at just the right moment.)

Thanks very much to Chris for donating his time, talent, and tools (which do not include the Lego table in the photos) to get the job done and let visitors experience what it’s like to be at the front of the plane!

The cockpit came from an Embraer aircraft that was being scrapped about 10 years ago. The plane’s front end was salvaged and turned over to a team of volunteers who refurbished it to be kid-safe so it could go in the museum.

Check out the Embraer cockpit when we’re open: Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
