‘Girls in Aviation Day’ 2025 was held on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

‘Girls in Aviation Day’ 2025 at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport brought more than 300 families to activities and displays at the Aviation Museum of N.H. and Signature Aviation.

Held on Saturday, Sept. 27 and organized by the Boston Chapter of Women in Aviation International, the event focused on encouraging young women to develop their interest in the worlds of aviation and aerospace.

The Aviation Museum’s contributions included putting our student-built RV-12iS aircraft on display and a special scenario on our flight simulator that gave visitors a chance to fly an early Blériot monoplane, the type used by aviation pioneer Harriet Quimby when she became the first woman to fly across the English Channel in 1912!

Many thanks to all those who attended, participating exhibitors, and the many volunteers who helped make ‘Girls in Aviation Day’ happen. Below are photos by Steve Heffelfinger, Leah Dearborn, and Jeff Rapsis.

“When people think about a career in aviation, most people think of a pilot,” said Danyell Fairburn, president of the Boston Chapter of Women in Aviation. “We want to show the students that there are exciting careers available to them as engineers, air traffic controllers, astronauts, aircraft maintenance technicians, dispatchers, and dozens of other jobs within the aviation community.”

“We will introduce the girls to role models and educate them in a fun and supportive atmosphere,” Fairburn said.
