Plane-build volunteer mentors complete two-day training course

More than 25 plane-build volunteers took part in a two-day training program in which they learned all about mentoring high school students.

The training took place on Thursday, Aug. 21 and Friday, Aug. 22 at Farmington (N.H.) High School, where students will begin assembling an RV-12iS two-seat aircraft when school opens for the 2025-26 school year.

Led by Dan Weyant of Tango Flight, a plane-building program partner, mentors learned about everything from working with high school students to basic workshop techniques and procedures.

The training culminated in mentors working together to assemble not one but two vertical stabilizers!
