She was mother and grandmother to some, sister and aunt to others, and wife of 59 years to her husband David. She was Dorothy ‘Dotty’ Deschenes of Hooksett, who passed away unexpectedly in 2021 at age 96.
Now, just after what would have been Dotty’s 100th birthday, her family dedicated brick to her memory along the front entrance walkway of the Aviation Museum. The brick carries the simple inscription “Dotty and David Deschenes, Sept. 18, 1965,” which was their wedding date.
The reason for the Aviation Museum brick? Turns out Dorothy served her country during World War II at Bradley Field in Connecticut as a member of the Women’s Army Corps specializing in aviation support, and the family wanted to pay tribute to this important part of her background. Also, Dotty and David would often visit the Aviation Museum’s parking lot to watch aircraft coming and going.
We’re honored to have Dorothy’s name along our walkway and we hope you’ll notice it during your next visit: it’s on the right side of the walkway just before the front door. Many thanks to volunteer Chris Lippincott for installing the brick during a brief ceremony with family members (including widower David) on Sunday, Nov. 17. See pictures below.
