WWII veteran's time as a POW preserved in a video

Thank you to Robert Fortnam for sharing his remarkable story detailing his 19 months spent as a POW. The museum's recent interview with Mr. Fortnam was covered by the Concord Monitor. 



 

The Aviaition Museum of NH recently interviewed Robert Fortnam, WWII Veteran, about his 19 months as a POW. The footage will be available for viewing at the museum this summer, and will be incorporated into school group tours and outreach. 

Thank you to Robert Fortnam for sharing his story, and to his family for their support of this project. Thank you to the staff of the Granite Ledges in Concord, NH, to our volunteer Nancy Bridston Hocking for her research and interviewing of Mr. Fortnam, and thank you to New Sky Productions for donating services towards this project.

new logoThe Gee Bee Model A Sport Plane (pictured on our logo) was the first plane built by the Granville brothers of Madison, New Hampshire in Boston, Massachusetts. They built nine in Springfield, Massachusetts followed by a series of sportsters (monoplanes) and finally leading to the famous Gee Bee supersportster racers, one of which established a new world land-air speed record.
